Service learning has changed me personally in terms of time management and dedication. Reason being since the school had other reservations in place when it came to my service-learning proposal and factors of that, etc. It had me looking within myself and seeing how I could have been more committed and use my time wisely. I realized that most things were being rushed. This resulted in me not having full commitment to what I needed to do but rather to get the job done. Thus, leaving me to understand that when I was being rushed, I needed to watch how I responded and reacted, and make sure that it does not affect the change that I desired to make. The social project has developed me professionally in terms of addressing what I needed to do with individuals in higher positions than me. I grew more comfortable speaking and interacting with head of departments, grade heads and teachers, in making it possible for me to be within their classrooms to do my social action project. This also helped me in further drawing the line between being my normal, not so serious self, to being my normal self but adapting towards a professional setting without needing to be someone who was unrealistic to me, but rather being my full self. The benefit of this initiative will show learners how they need to treat others and express how they would like to be treated. The mission promotes respect for oneself and the other individual. The respect given and received will grant the learners the ability to grow with rightful manners. The kindness they will show one another will feed into the greater theme of loving your neighbour, by caring and looking out for one another. Not only will such actions benefit their schooling career and environment but also beyond their school environment, whether it be within their homes or sports clubs, learners will take what good things they learn from school and implement it within the greater society.
